Jigyasa University, formerly known as Himgiri Zee University, is a prestigious private university located in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. Established in 2003 by the TALEEM Research Foundation, Ahmedabad, the institution was founded under the Uttaranchal State Act No. 17 of 2003 and has since been reconstituted under the Uttarakhand Private University (Amendment) Act of 2024. Recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), Jigyasa University also holds approvals from the Bar Council of India (BCI), the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), and the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).

Spanning a lush 52-acre Wi-Fi-enabled campus on Sherpur Chakrata Road, Jigyasa University offers a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and doctoral programmes through its eight schools. These programmes cover diverse disciplines, including Science, Engineering, Technology, Education, Pharmacy, Law, Business Studies, Agriculture, Humanities, Journalism, and Hotel & Tourism Management. The university stands out in Dehradun for its unique infrastructure — it is the only campus in the region featuring a swimming pool with separate schedules for male and female students.

Admission to most programmes is merit-based, with a minimum eligibility of 45 percent in the qualifying examination. Admission Process

Jigyasa University admission 2025 is open for undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and doctoral programs across various disciplines such as Engineering, Pharmacy, Management, Law, Education, Science, and Humanities. The university provides a dynamic and inclusive academic structure designed to nurture innovation and research-driven learning. Offering more than 12 programs, Jigyasa University aims to create a learner-centric environment that promotes holistic development, ethical values, and leadership qualities among students.

Admission to Jigyasa University is purely merit-based, with eligibility varying according to the course and level of study. For undergraduate programs such as B.Tech, B.Sc., BBA, BCA, B.Com, BA, B.Ed., and B.Pharm, candidates must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination in a relevant stream. For Engineering courses, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics are mandatory subjects with a minimum aggregate of 45 percent, while Pharmacy requires Physics, Chemistry, and Biology with at least 50 percent marks. Admissions to these programs are based on merit in the qualifying examination.

For postgraduate programs such as MBA, M.Tech, M.Sc., MA, and LLM, candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in the relevant field with at least 50 percent aggregate marks from a recognized university. The selection process is based on academic performance and overall merit. Admission to the Ph.D. program requires a postgraduate degree with a minimum of 55 percent marks in the relevant subject, and candidates are selected based on academic credentials and research aptitude.

The entire admission process at Jigyasa University is conducted online through its official website. Applicants must register using a valid email ID, fill out the application form, upload scanned copies of necessary documents including mark sheets, identity proof, and certificates, and pay a non-refundable application fee of INR 1,000. Once the applications are reviewed, eligible candidates are shortlisted for counselling or direct admission, depending on the program.
