Swami Rama Himalayan University (SRHU) stands as a living tribute to the life, vision, and extraordinary legacy of H.H. Dr. Swami Rama — a yogi, philosopher, scientist, humanitarian, and one of the most influential spiritual masters of the modern era. Guided by revered personalities such as Mahatma Gandhi, Sri Aurobindo, and Rabindranath Tagore, Swami Rama blended ancient wisdom with scientific inquiry, dedicating his life to the welfare of humanity.

His journey led him from India to Oxford, then to London as a medical consultant, and later to Moscow for groundbreaking research in parapsychology. Encouraged by his master, Bengali Baba, he travelled across the world, building bridges between science, medicine, yoga, and spirituality.

In 1966, he established Sadhana Mandir in Rishikesh, a serene centre dedicated to Raja Yoga and holistic living. His pioneering institution, the Himalayan Institute of Yoga Science and Philosophy (USA, 1971), gained global recognition for research proving the profound influence of the mind over the body. His yogic achievements were featured in acclaimed scientific publications including the 1973 Encyclopedia Britannica Yearbook of Science, Time-Life Nature Science Annual, and the World Book Science Annual.

Driven by the belief that “the body is a temple and the consciousness is the eternal divine,” Swami Rama founded the Himalayan Institute Hospital Trust (HIHT) in 1989 at Dehradun to transform healthcare access, medical education, rural development, and community upliftment.

Carrying forward this noble vision, Swami Rama Himalayan University was established in 2013. Today, SRHU is one of India’s leading private universities, recognised by bodies like UGC, DSIR, NMC, ICMR, American Heart Association, Institute of Applied Statistical Society, and accredited by NABH, NABL, and NAAC A+. The university is committed to nurturing excellence through education, research, innovation, technology, and compassionate service.

The 2024 placement season recorded a highest package of INR 8 LPA and an average package of INR 2.93 LPA.
