Indrashil University, located in Rajpur, Kadi near Ahmedabad, Gujarat, was established in 2017 as a State Private University under the Gujarat Universities Act of 2009. It stands out as the first university in the state to focus on Life Sciences, offering academic and research excellence in this growing field. The university provides undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes through its three main schools of study, covering disciplines such as Science, Engineering, Pharmacy, and Management.
Founded as a charitable initiative of Cadila Pharmaceuticals Limited, Indrashil University was established by its Founding Chancellor, Dr Rajiv I Modi, in memory of his parents, Shri Indravadan Ambalal Modi and Smt Shilaben Modi, who laid the foundation for Cadila Pharmaceuticals in 1951. The institution carries forward their legacy of innovation and compassion, promoting education that blends scientific discovery with societal development.
The university is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and offers AICTE-approved courses. Its faculty includes highly qualified professionals and researchers from leading institutions such as IITs and NITs. Indrashil University has also built a strong network of over 100 industrial collaborations and maintains partnerships with renowned organisations, including CSIR laboratories in Lucknow, Hyderabad, Pune, and New Delhi.

Admission Process

Indrashil University, located in Rajpur, Kadi in Mehsana district, Gujarat, has opened admissions for the 2025 academic session across all its programmes. Established in 2017, the university offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral-level courses in Engineering, Sciences, and Pharmacy through its three constituent schools — the School of Engineering, the School of Sciences, and the School of Pharmacy. Known for its focus on life sciences and research-based learning, Indrashil University provides both merit-based and entrance-based admissions, depending on the programme.

For undergraduate courses like B.Tech, B.Sc, and B.Pharm, candidates must have passed 10+2 or an equivalent examination from a recognised board with at least 45 percent marks in the relevant subjects. Admission to B.Tech programmes is based on scores from GUJCET or JEE Main, while for B.Pharm, applicants must qualify for the GUJCET entrance exam. The university also fills 50 percent of its seats through the ACPC counselling process, with the remaining seats offered based on entrance test scores or merit in the qualifying examination.

For postgraduate courses such as M.Sc and PG Diploma programmes, candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in a related field. Admission to the M.Sc programme is based on performance in the university’s entrance exam, while PG Diploma applicants should possess a degree in Science, Engineering, or Technology, or a diploma with at least two years of professional experience. The university also conducts its own entrance test for doctoral-level admissions, known as the IU Ph.D. Entrance Test (IUPET). Candidates with valid national-level exam scores such as UGC-NET, CSIR-NET, or GATE may be exempted from the entrance test.

Indrashil University offers scholarships and tuition fee waivers to meritorious students. For instance, B.Tech students from the open category who score 75 percent or higher in their examinations are eligible for a tuition fee scholarship worth ₹20,000 per year, provided they maintain the required performance. The application process is conducted entirely online, with an application fee of ₹1,000. The university’s admission portal has been active since January 2025 and remains open for candidates seeking admission into its diverse range of academic and research programmes.
