Azim Premji University, located in Bengaluru, Karnataka, is a not-for-profit private institution established in 2010 under the Azim Premji University Act. Recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2F, the university was founded with the vision of creating a more just, equitable, and sustainable society through education and research. Spread across a modern 100-acre campus, the university offers a holistic academic environment focused on interdisciplinary learning, critical inquiry, and social impact.
APU offers a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and certificate programs across various disciplines including Education, Development Studies, Public Policy, Law, Arts, and Sciences. Its five schools of study—School of Education, School of Development, School of Policy and Governance, School of Arts and Sciences, and School of Continuing Education—form the academic backbone of the institution. The university also houses a research centre that conducts high-impact studies addressing real-world social and developmental challenges.
The flagship programs at Azim Premji University include the MA in Education, MA in Development, and B.Sc. (Hons.) programs, each designed to combine theoretical knowledge with field-based learning. The admission process is merit-based and considers performance in the qualifying examination, national-level entrance tests like CUET, and the university’s own assessment process. For postgraduate programs such as MA, a minimum of 60% in graduation is required, while for undergraduate courses like BA and B.Sc. (Hons.), candidates must have completed 10+2 with at least 50% marks.

Admission Process

Azim Premji University admission 2025 is entrance-based, offering undergraduate, postgraduate, and diploma programs across various disciplines in humanities, sciences, education, and development. The university provides 4-year undergraduate degrees in BA and BSc, focusing on a liberal, interdisciplinary approach that allows students to explore multiple domains of study. The BSc programmes cover majors in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Information Science, Environmental Science & Sustainability, and Psychology, while the BA programmes include History, English, Social Science, Economics, Philosophy, and the interdisciplinary Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE). Every undergraduate student is also required to choose an Occupational Minor to gain practical skills and professional exposure.

At the postgraduate level, the university offers MA programmes in Education, Development, Economics, and Public Health, each designed to build advanced knowledge and research capabilities. The flagship MA Education programme is known for its strong focus on educational reform and public policy. Along with degree courses, Azim Premji University also offers a range of diploma and certificate courses in specialized areas like Research for Social Action, Exploring Sustainability in the Indian Context, Quantum GIS Mapping, and Perspectives on Public Education Systems.

Admission to all programs at Azim Premji University is based on a university-conducted entrance exam, followed by a personal interview. The entrance exam has two parts: Part 1 consists of multiple-choice questions to test general aptitude, and Part 2 requires candidates to write an essay based on their chosen program. Shortlisted candidates are invited for the interview round, which evaluates academic readiness, motivation, and communication skills.

The eligibility criteria for admission require applicants to have passed 10+2 with at least 50% marks for undergraduate programs and graduation with a minimum of 60% marks for postgraduate courses. For B.Sc. and BA (Hons.), selection is based on CUET-UG or the university’s entrance test, while for MA programs, candidates can apply through CUET-PG or the in-house test.

The admission process is entirely online, and students must register on the official university website, complete the form, upload academic documents, and pay the application fee. After the entrance exam and interview, selected candidates must verify their documents and pay the admission fee to confirm enrollment.
